The Whiskey Ring Podcast is proud to host the first virtual tasting for Riachi Distillery. Riachi is a winery and arak-maker dating back to 1839, 184 years of making wines and spirits.

In 2011, Roy decided to enter the whisky market. Riachi currently offers two product lines: Levant Heights, where they experiment with and honor styles of whisky all over the world, and Athyr, their premium line that showcases the best of Lebanon (using sun-dried Lebanese barley and Lebanese oak, plus the famed Cedars of Lebanon for the Cedarwood-Finished edition).

Roy will join us all the way from Lebanon to taste through four expressions:

1) Levant Heights Single Pot Still - honoring the single pot still tradition of Ireland with a malt and wheat mashbill

2) Levant Heights Espresso Roast Dark Malt - using 100% dark malt and brewing a stout to be distilled into a roasty, dark whisky sure to please any fan of dark beers

3) Athyr Single Barrel "Empire" New York Exclusive Single Barrel - a single barrel chosen just for the NY market, aged six years with Lebanese oak and made from sun-dried Lebanese barley

4) Athyr Cedarwood-Finished - the Athyr classic plus an additional year of aging in Lebanese Cedarwood
