Macleod's Regional Malts was created as an introduction to the distinct styles and traditions found across Scotland's whisky regions. Rather than focusing on one distillery, the collection presents a guided exploration of Highland, Island, Lowland, and Speyside single malt whisky.
Each region brings its own associations. Highland malts are often described through complexity and structure; Speyside through fruit, floral character, and elegance; Lowland through freshness and a softer palate; and Island whisky through maritime influence, smoke, and mineral intensity. Regional character varies widely between distilleries, but these expressions offer an approachable way to compare styles.
The historical Macleod's range has included bottlings representing all four regions, allowing a drinker to move from bright and fragrant whiskies to richer, saltier, or more assertive expressions. These are examples from the recorded range, not a live inventory list.
Part of the Ian Macleod family of brands, the collection makes whisky education approachable without losing the sense of discovery that makes the differences between Scotland's regions worth exploring.
